Remington 700 need scope
Question:
# I’ve got a Remington 700 ADL 270win that I just purchased. I am now needing # help on finding a good scope. I’m using it to hunt whitetail in Texas at # about 200 yards. I’ve been using my girlfriends dads gun for the past couple # of seasons and now I want to use my own. Any pointers? # Good choice of rifle. For a scope you’ll want a Leupold. The best models for what you want are the Vari-X III in either 2.5-8X or 3.5-10X. The Vari-X II models in either 2-7X or 3-9X are also very good choices. Buy a good one! They are not cheap, but they are worth it. Probably the most popular scopes for your described application are variables in the 3-9x category. But especially when buying variables, get a good one. I’m partial to Leupold and Burris. Solid quality, excellent warranties, not as expensive as Swarovski, Zeiss, or Steiner. I think a great scope for the money is Burris 4x fixed power scope. Check out http://www.bearbasin.com. I’ve bought several scopes from them and am very satisfied with price and service. Hope this helps. Ken in NY # I’ve got a Remington 700 ADL 270win that I just purchased. I am now needing # help on finding a good scope. I’m using it to hunt whitetail in Texas at # about 200 yards. If all your shots are closer to 200 yards their 6×42 is a very nice scope for the money. I would personally look at the leupold Var-x II or III. The Vari-x II in 3×9 runs about $239.00 and comes with a lifetime warrantee. If you find one used it still has the warrantee. For what it is worth, I was in a similar situation once. Got a Tasco 3 X 9 from a friend at a great price – free. Scope never fogged or failed, but would slightly shift point of impact when you zoomed in or out. Not enough that you would miss a deer, but enough to notice. Later, I found a few extra dollars and bought a Leupold 2 X 7. It has been abused, but it is still perfect. Would recommend Leupold if it is in your budget.
